When it turned out that I would be starting my internship at Gunzilla in April 22, I was excited and a little panicked at the same time.

Why did I do this?
As said excited and panicked at the same time. This was because Gunzilla was working with Unreal 5 and so far I had only worked in Unity. There are several reasons for this.
- My work alongside my studies was in Unity.
- Our game development professor hates unreal and has therefore only taught Unity
- I had little free time to try out projects in Unreal myself.
So my motivation was clear. I don’t want to start at Gunzilla without any knowledge or skill in Unreal. I want to be able to do at least something. So I got into Unreal a little bit.
What did I do:
Mainly I dealt with Unreal’s basic structure, the interface and Unreal 5 features like Nanite and Lumens.
I looked for some cool assets, watched a tutorial video and build my world with different tools. You can compare it a little bit with my first project. Rise and Fall of a Mad Man.
Actually that’s everything I can say to that project. It wasn’t that huge but it did cost me some days to build the whole Environment.
What did I learn?
To put it in a nutshell: The basics of Unreal.
But I also found my first interest in level design that way. Through the failures from my previous projects and the work on this project built up more and more interest in level design.
